Recupel is more than just an organization for the collection and recycling of electrical waste. Through its activities, Recupel contributes significantly to local employment in Belgium, both in the regular economy and in the social economy.
Local jobs, local processing
Recupel’s head office employs 33 people. In addition, Recupel indirectly provides 1,734 jobs in Belgium, including through partners in logistics, transport, recycling centres, and processing companies. 1,063 of these jobs are in the social economy.
An important principle is that all collected electrical appliances are processed entirely in Belgium. Recupel does not export electrical waste abroad. By opting for local processing, jobs, expertise, and investments remain in the country.
Collaboration with specialised companies
For activities related to the reuse of electrical appliances, Recupel works exclusively with specialised companies. These companies employ people who find it difficult to access the regular labour market and offer adapted work, training and guidance.
The collaboration with specialised companies ensures:
- sustainable employment for vulnerable groups.
- social inclusion and talent development.
- a direct link between the circular economy and social impact.
Sustainable and social circular economy
Recupel proves that sustainable waste management is more than just recycling. By opting for local processing, no waste export, and a strong anchoring in the social economy, Recupel contributes to a circular economy that is also socially sustainable.
