Round e-commerce platform

An initiative for simplified compliance

  • Round’s e-commerce platform is a national solution designed to facilitate the automated, secure and targeted exchange of administrative data between Belgian extended producer responsibility (EPR/PRO) organisations and online marketplaces.
  • This system enables stakeholders to effectively comply with legal obligations regarding producer responsibility, as defined in the Vlarema (Flanders) and the Interregional Cooperation Agreement on EPR, while respecting data confidentiality.

Aim of the platform

  • simplified compliance: instant verification of seller and producer affiliations.
  • protection: no personal data is shared, all requests are anonymised.
  • efficiency: a single connector via interface or API to automate verifications.

How does it work?

Marketplaces can query the system using a VAT number or membership number.
Round’s e-commerce platform only responds with essential information: European VAT number, EPR code, producer membership number, product category and membership validity period.

Access to Round’s e-commerce platform is strictly regulated:

  • EPR’s can only manage their own data;
  • platforms can only query the system to verify membership;
  • no actor can download the entire database.

All connections are authenticated, encrypted and logged for auditing purposes, without compromising the data minimisation policy.

A tool for all players on the Belgian market

  • For EPR’s: a uniform and secure channel for disseminating their data and controlling memberships.
  • For online marketplaces: automated verification without handling sensitive data.
  • For authorities: a transparent and interoperable solution supporting national compliance.
An initiative promoting compliance and transparency
Round’s e-commerce platform demonstrates the Belgian sector’s commitment to a digital circular economy based on collaboration, security and administrative simplification. It is an essential lever for strengthening environmental compliance while supporting the competitiveness of online commerce.
